What is texture in a 3D model?

A texture in a 3D model is a 2D image or map that tells the model how its surface should look. The mesh gives the object its shape, while textures add color, material detail, roughness, scratches, fabric weave, paint, dirt, metalness, and other visual information. UV coordinates tell the software how to wrap those 2D images around the 3D surface. Without textures, most models look like plain gray clay. With good textures, the same model can become wood, stone, clothing, plastic, metal, or a stylized game asset. TextureFast helps by generating those surface maps from prompts and UV-unwrapped models.
